Ongoing management and upgrades
The City manages over 795 classified parks and amenity areas including sports fields, parklands, natural areas, community facilities, street gardens and public access ways covering an area of 1890 hectares within an area of 560 square kilometres and includes 20 suburbs and localities from coastal plain suburbs to the hills environment.
The City also manage a large area of open space through well managed scheduled operational maintenance services, regular service inspections along with the delivery of annual capital development and asset renewal projects.
Our parks and gardens are open to the public and have a significant impact on both the quality of life for our people and the city as a whole. As such, the City is committed to maintaining these beautiful parks and recreational facilities for everyone to enjoy.
What we do
To keep our Parks running smoothly the Parks Maintenance team is responsible for the following:
Rubbish removal in parks
Irrigation maintenance and repair - The majority of the water for the City's reserves comes from groundwater, which the City operates under strict licence conditions.
Street tree care and management
BBQ cleaning
General playground maintenance includes cleaning, repairs, replacement of parts and small items, removal of graffiti, vandalism and damage repairs
Care and maintenance of our bushland and natural areas
Implement the Urban Forest delivery
Mowing and turf care (19 Active ovals - consisting of approximately 89 hectares of maintained turf)

Parks under the management of the developer
Developers are responsible for maintaining newly finished parks and reserves inside these areas for two years as part of new developments.
Using our Parks and Reserves
The City provides park facilities such as playgrounds, BBQs and picnic tables, which are available to all members of the community and cannot be reserved for a specific group.
For members of the public using our parks and reserves;
Bringing a garbage bag to clean the site after you have used it.
Please take responsibility for removing excess rubbish to avoid bin overflow.
When utilising the BBQ facilities, please be courteous and clean the hotplate after each use
We encourage park visitors to pick up after themselves

Park visitors are responsible for their own safety and welfare (including the safety and welfare of children under their supervision or control) at all times.
If you want to have a major gathering or event in one of the City's parks, please notify the city 9394 5000.
Antisocial Behaviour
If you are concerned about antisocial behaviour in any public space, report the matter to Police on 131 444.
Reporting an issue or maintenance requests
Have you seen a problem in your neighbourhood, such as damaged park or playground equipment, broken reticulation?

Whose responsibility is the verge
Did you know that residents are responsible for maintaining the area front of their property?
Residents are responsible for maintaining the verge in front of their homes including corner side verges in good order. Residents are encouraged to maintain the verge area, as an extension of their own gardens.
While the City is responsible for maintenance of street trees on verges, residents are encouraged to establish waterwise verge gardens and look after their verges.
Before starting your verge garden landscaping make sure you review the guidelines to ensure that it complies with the City of Armadale's requirements.
