Libraries and Museums The City’s Libraries host many activities throughout the week for the whole community. This includes sessions such as:
Active Ageing exercise workshops.
Conversational English.
Crochet, Knitting and Craft groups.
Book Clubs and Writing Groups.
Technology assistance.
Watch a movie, or even play Dungeons and Dragons!

The Curiosity Hour is a sixty-minute session at History House Museum created to encourage memories through the telling and sharing of stories related to historical objects and places. These sessions are available to any interested adult and have been specifically designed to include people living with dementia and their carers. To book for a group contact the museum on (08) 9394 5670.
Memory Bags have been designed to foster interaction between people living with dementia or other sensory related conditions and their family and carers. Each themed Memory Bag contains a range of items designed to stimulate memories, engage the senses and promote shared experiences. Memory Bags are available from
Seville Grove Library.
A Home Delivery Service is available to residents who are unable to access library services due to an ongoing illness or disability. Staff use information provided by the reader to select library items. Items are delivered to their homes on a fortnightly basis. For more information phone the Kelmscott Library on (08) 9394 5810.

Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre: The Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre provides information to residents and visitors about things to do and see in the City of Armadale. Join the Pole walking group, a fun and functional exercise that has low joint impact and enhances balance, stability, posture and mobility.

Join a guided tour of the Bert Tyler Vintage Machinery Museum with morning tea included.
Environment and Sustainability:

City of Armadale hosts two plenary sessions, on behalf of the Bushcare Environmental Working Group (BEWG) and the Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group (AGLG). See what the topics are coming up for you to attend here.

If you live on a rural property and contain or are adjacent to priority conservation value bushland, wetlands and watercourses, you may be eligible to receive native seedlings and ongoing support through the Habitat Links Program.
Arts and Events: The City runs many arts events throughout the year. They are open to the community and accessibility is a key feature of City of Armadale events. See below for more information and visit the What’s On page.
The Armadale Arts Festival offers many activities for community members to enjoy. A highlight for seniors is the Positive Ageing High Tea. See the Armadale Arts Festival website for more information.
The City is committed to making our large events such as Australia Day and the Armadale Highland Gathering and Perth Kilt Run as accessible as possible. They include dedicated ACROD parking and other accessibility inclusions. Please see the Armadale Highland Gathering and Perth Kilt Run.
The Minnawarra Art Awards and Outside the Frame Art Awards are held annually in the Kim Fletcher Gallery at Armadale District Hall. Entry is free and self-paced, so you do not need to book. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and parking is available at the door.
The annual Carols by Candlelight event includes an accessible area with access for wheelchairs and mobility aids, Bluetooth assistive listening, and more along with reserved tables and chairs for individuals and their family and friends who need these services. Entry to the accessible area is free but bookings are required.

Let’s Connect Armadale Expo: Each year the City holds the Let’s Connect Armadale Expo, an opportunity for the community to learn about community support services and connect with groups you can join as a member or volunteer. Look on our What's On page in March for details of the next Expo.
Get active at AFAC: Many exercise activities held at the Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre are designed specifically for older adults. These include Omnia Senior, Strength for Life, Zumba Gold. Other programs available to all adults that are popular with seniors include Water Walking, Aqua classes, Body Balance, Yoga and Pilates. If you have additional accessibility needs, AFAC can cater for wheelchairs throughout the facility and has Universal Access Toilets and a Changing Place. AFAC has dedicated mobility scooter parking, and all pools have gentle ramp access. AFAC is located on Champion Drive in Seville Grove. See their website or Facebook page, or phone them on 9394 5850.
Community Safety
The City offers a range of activities and resources that help residents to create a safer and healthier community. Here you will also find information on the Security Incentive Scheme that provides rebates to eligible residents to help make their home safer.
You can obtain a hardcopy of our Community Safety Handbook from City of Armadale Customer Service. Request a Home Safety Audit by a Community Development Officer by phoning the City on (08) 9394 5000.
Get to know your neighbours using the suggestions on our Growing our Neighbourhoods page, including how to apply for a Community BBQ Rebate, so you can organise a street get-together with your neighbours. To improve your home safety, please also:

Become a Volunteer
Being a volunteer has many benefits. It can facilitate the enjoyment of new experiences and purpose in life, meeting new people, increase self-esteem, stress relief and a better frame of mind. The Armadale Volunteer Service can connect you with organisations that are looking for volunteers. Or you can volunteer directly with City of Armadale and become a Reserve Custodian or Bushcare Volunteer, join Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group, or volunteer at the Armadale Visitors Centre, Birtwistle Local Studies Library or History House Museum. The City supports three senior citizen centres that offer a wide range of social, sporting and recreational activities.

Aboriginal Elders
The City of Armadale values the local Aboriginal Elders who provide guidance and a sense of grounding for Armadale’s Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community members. The Elders provide essential support to the vision of the Champion Centre, the City’s Aboriginal Development Centre, as well as support and education to the younger Aboriginal community members. The Champion Centre is also a meeting place for Elders where they can participate in social, cultural and creative activities. Aged Care services
The City does not deliver Aged Care services in the community. If you or a loved one needs support to stay in the home, help is available to eligible seniors from a range of service providers registered with My Aged Care. Types of support in the community can include:
Subsidised services can be provided by service providers if you have had an Aged Care Assessment Test (ACAT). Assessments are arranged by My Aged Care, an Australian Federal Government program designed to support older adults to be able to live in their own homes and communities. My Aged Care also provides information regarding aged care homes and the different services they offer. To find out if you are eligible, please apply for an assessment on the website or phone 1800 200 422.
Free Public Transport
Seniors are eligible for free travel on Transperth at the following times:
From first service until 6am
From 9am until 3.30pm
From 7pm until last service
All day Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
